Our Global Impact

DigiCONS demonstrates substantial international impact through its collaborative research network and adoption of its digital competencies framework across multiple countries and institutions. The initiative has become a global reference point for assessing and enhancing digital literacy competencies in nursing education.

At the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, the DigiCONS Digital Competencies Survey (DCS) is used as part of an international collaborative study involving the United States, Slovenia and Brazil, assessing nursing students’ digital literacy and AI competence. Formal permission was given to translate and apply the Digital Competencies Survey (DCS) as part of an international collaborative project for cross-cultural adaptation into Angolan Portuguese.

The University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences (in Slovenia) has integrated the survey into an international study evaluating digital literacy and AI competencies among nursing students worldwide, expanding the reach of DigiCONS across Europe.

At the University of Bonn (Germany), the DCS underpins a research project enabling students and university staff to self‑assess their digital competencies online. This initiative, that will be hosted by the German Ministry of Culture and Science, also informs a forthcoming review of digital competency measurement tools.

In South Korea, the College of Medicine at Chosun University is using the survey in a university‑funded project titled “The Effects of Nursing Students’ Digital Literacy, Nursing Informatics Competency, and Evidence‑Based Practice Competency on Clinical Performance Competency.” The project coordinators described DigiCONS as “highly relevant and inspiring,” demonstrating its influence on curriculum innovation and evidence‑based practice in East Asia.

In South Asia, the People’s Nursing School at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (Pakistan) and the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (Karachi) reached out to contextualise the DigiCONS model to enhance digital literacy and professional preparedness among nursing students. Additionally, the survey instrument has been requested by students from Gulfreen Nursing College, affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore Pakistan for use as part of a research project titled “The relationship between digital literacy and clinical decision-making skills among student nurses: across sectional study”.

Permission was also granted to additional students internationally to use the DigiCONS tools for research purposes. A PhD student in Nursing at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences is using the work as part of doctoral research titled “Development of Nurses’ Digital Health and Standardized Digital Consultation Competencies.” A university researcher and student in Philippines is using the work for a research study  “Assessing the digital competencies of nursing students and identifying areas that may need further development”.
