A series of cross-sectional empirical studies have been conducted as part of DigiCONS which to-date have measured the digital skills of a total of 1821 students, engaged 34 staff and attracted international attention from a number of countries. The work has achieved international impact as the survey instrument has been formally requested by the Department of Professional OrientationSchool of Nursing, University of São Paulo, in Brasil, Bonn Center for Teacher Education, at Universität Bonn (Germany), and the Faculty of Health Sciences (NURSing Digital and AI Literacy Assessment) of the University of Maribor in Slovenia.

That publication has achieved the highest number of downloads when compared to all other articles in the volume it was published in. It is a cross-sectional study exploring nursing students’ self-perceived digital literacy across multiple competency domains. The findings reveal significant gaps in areas, such as digital research and innovation, underscoring the need for targeted, discipline-based digital skills training in health education. The findings support the need for targeted training to enhance workforce readiness, promote evidence-based practice, and ensure effective engagement with digital health platforms.
